Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety

OHS, or Occupational Health and Safety, is a multidisciplinary practice dealing with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace, with a strong focus on preventing workplace hazards.

Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

Industrial hygiene is essential because it helps protect employees from several types of injuries and illnesses, including: Skin diseases like dermatitis, eczema, rashes and blisters are common in industries where workers skin comes into contact with hazardous chemicals.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE is essentially anything you can wear that will protect you against any hazardous conditions. PPE is important because it prepares you for any health and safety risks and gives you extra protection event of an accident or against the elements.

Slip, Trips and Fall Prevention

Good housekeeping is very important when working to prevent falls due to slips and trips. When selecting proper footwear, it is important that it be appropriate safe footwear for the work environment (e.g., slip-resistant safety shoes or boots in an agricultural work environment, factory or warehouse).

Basic Scaffolding Safety Awareness

Scaffold, in building construction, temporary platform used to elevate and support workers and materials during the construction, repair, or cleaning of a structure or machine; it consists of one or more planks of convenient size and length, with various methods of support, depending on the form and use.

Working at Heights Awareness

Gain knowledge, skills and experience that are necessary to select and set up working at heights equipment ready for safe use and operation. Identify risks in the workplace and eliminate or reduce the risk of severe or fatal injuries.

Excavation & Trenching Safety Awareness

The primary goal of this course is to teach you safe work practices for excavation and trenching. You will learn how protection systems and other safety precautions can prevent serious injuries related to excavation work.

Safety Talk/ Safety Tool Box Training

Toolbox talks are a great way to reinforce safety basics, focus on high-risk scenarios and to inform workers about changes to the jobsite and working conditions that may have occurred since their last shift. Be sure to discuss cover any accidents or injuries that have occurred and how they could have been prevented.

Crane & Rigging Safety

In construction, safety is the number one priority, especially when lifting heavy objects and using heavy equipment. Using cranes and other equipment to lift and manipulate extremely heavy objects is the job of a qualified rigger.

The "Right to Know" program, HazCom ensures that those who are exposed to or use the chemicals are fully aware of the dangers involved and trained to use the products as safely as possible. HazCom is an aspect of HazMat Communication that goes beyond the actions of the employer.

Fire Safety Awareness

Fire Safety Awareness is an educational process to remind everyone in the workplace of best practices to avoid creating a fire risk, and the measures to take in the event a fire happens in the workplace.

Permit-to-Work System

A permit to work system is a formal documented system, used to control high-risk activities. They are usually issued by a manager or supervisor and allow a person or group of people to carry out a task, under strict controls.

Confined Space Entry

The course will educate participants on the definition of a confined space and the minimum site safety requirements and procedures to be implemented when opening, entering, exiting, and/or performing work within these spaces.

Electrical Safety

Electricity can kill or severely injure people and cause damage to property. However, you can take simple precautions when working with or near electricity and electrical equipment to significantly reduce the risk of injury to you, your workers and others around you.

Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO)

A lockout/tag out program will help prevent: Contact with a hazard while performing tasks that require the removal, by-passing, or deactivation of safeguarding devices. The unintended release of hazardous energy (stored energy). The unintended start-up or motion of machinery, equipment, or processes.

Safe Lifting Operation & Inspection

Lifting operations are considered to be high-risk activities that require thorough risk assessment and careful planning prior to commencement of work. Past cases had proven that serious injuries can be inflicted during lifting operations involving even light or small loads.

Incident/Accident Investigation

When Incidents/Accident are investigated, the emphasis should be concentrated on finding the root cause of the Incident/Accident so you can prevent the event from happening again. The purpose is to find facts that can lead to corrective actions, not to find fault.

Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

The Job Hazard Analysis tool is used to identify how to perform task step-by-step, any hazards associated with the task and controls to mitigate the hazards. A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is an analysis of the hazards and risk associated which focus on identifying and controlling hazards.

Risk Assessment Awareness

The aim of the Risk Assessment process is to evaluate hazards, then remove that hazard or minimize the level of its risk by adding control measures, as necessary. By doing so, you have created a safer and healthier workplace.

Ergonomic in the Workplace

Implementing ergonomic solutions can make employees more comfortable and increase productivity. Why is ergonomics important? Ergonomics is important because when you're doing a job and your body is stressed by an awkward posture, extreme temperature, or repeated movement your musculoskeletal system is affected.
